Audi reveals their latest concept car that could be the successor to their A8 luxury flagship, the Audi Grandsphere. Dubbed as the “Private Jet For The Road”, although this luxurious car cannot fly, it is designed to give off a first class lounge type of feel when you set foot inside the car’s interior. The car has a self-driving mode that enables the passengers to enjoy the scenery while having a Private Jet experience to further highlight its nickname. Audi mentioned that when designing this concept car, they had luxury private travel in mind hence the nickname and the design.
Hildegard Wortmann, who is head of Audi’s sales and marketing, believes that the Audi Grandsphere is the future of Audi and is the beginning of a new era in automotive mobility. The Grandsphere is designed to be a self-driving car without the need for the driver’s assistance or supervision. To date, there are still no self-driving cars, and this concept by Audi could be the start of a new automobile future that will feature cars that could pilot themselves. Audi is set to release three concept vehicles from their future looking concept line. Before the Audi Grandsphere, they have recently revealed the Audi Skysphere. The third one, which is the Audi Ubransphere, is slated to be revealed around 2022.
The Audi Grandsphere has a more luxurious interior compared to the Audi Skysphere, but the two cars share a few similarities when it comes to their exterior and features. When in self-driving mode, the Grandsphere projects movies through the wooden instrument panel of the vehicle. The car has no obvious screens in its interior.
This concept car by Audi is definitely something to watch out for. the Audi Grandsphere is potentially set to go on sale in 2025 after its planned 2024 debut.
